How your brain constructs what you call reality.

Most of us believe we are perceiving reality AS IT IS until we learn that’s not actually the case. What we are actually doing is filtering an external objective reality, and constructing it in a subjective manner. And the construction process in most cases begins before a single piece of sensory information even reaches our conscious awareness… through the interpretations we have chosen to adopt, about reality, AS OUR MODEL OF REALITY.
Here’s what I cover in this article:
- At any given moment, our sensory system is receiving approximately 11 million bits of information per second from the environment around us. So, what information gets into, our model of reality?
- Neuroscience has identified two distinct streams of information-processing happening in the brain simultaneously: bottom-up processing and top-down processing. Two streams. One arriving from the world. One from within. So, what does this mean about the Brain and our creation of experience?
- The brain constantly filters external information that it is meeting externally based on an internal model that most people don’t realize they have constructed. So, how is perception a decision for expectation, or prediction of our experience of reality?
- Having covered, 1 through 3, then I walk through how Perception is upstream of everything, and once we understand this, life becomes a totally different reality – all life becomes a game of perception. So, why is this so incredibly instrumental in being able to create life more effectively and efficiently?
- The next thing I cover, is at the quantum layer, how perception is actually the measure of the observer collapsing the field of consciousness into experience. So, what is the actual interplay of Perception and the Field, through quantum mechanics?
- Next, I go into what I’m passionate about – turning Conscious Perception as a lever for the Mastery in the Co-Creation process… which is only ONE lever, but a very important one. So, what does working at the level of perception actually look like?
- Finally, I end with making the case that this is the most important work that we can do, to work at the level of our perceptions, in order to make the external changes effectively and efficiently from the inside.
